About the SWVG ...

The South Wilts Virus Group (SWVG) is a forum for virologists in the Wiltshire/Surrey/Berkshire/Oxfordshire region. It was started in 1952 at the Common Cold Unit (CCU) at Harnham Down near Salisbury (hence the name South Wilts Virus Group) as an informal gathering of scientists in the area to discuss virological topics. After the closure of the CCU in 1990, the group ceased to meet for some years but it was revived in 1995 at a meeting in CAMR, Porton Down, Wiltshire. Since then a regular programme of meetings has been in place. It is intended that the meetings be held three times per year (missing out the former winter meeting) at the following venues (in rotation) --->

HPA/DSTL (Porton Down, Wiltshire)
IAH-Compton (Berkshire)
IAH-Pirbright (Surrey)
CEH-Oxford (Oxfordshire)
University of Reading (Berkshire)
Veterinary Laboratories Agency (Weybridge, Surrey)
